Ministry proposes 3% income tax for self-employed from 2019

MOSCOW, May 3 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Finance Ministry has proposed to introduce a 3% income tax for self-employed people starting from 2019, Deputy Minister Ilya Trunin told reporters Thursday.

“We offer to make the most simple and convenient regime of paying taxes at a special rate for a person, who has no employees and receives income from the sale of goods, works, and services… It will be called a tax on professional income,” Trunin said.

“The rate of the tax will be around 3% if services are provided to individuals and to 6% if (services are provided) to corporate bodies,” he said.

The Finance Ministry expects that the new regime will start working from 2019, but only as a pilot project in certain regions.
